DP Current Transformer is an important equipment for current measurement relay protection and energy monitoring in power system. The installation quality not only affects the accuracy of measurement data, but also directly affects the safe and stable operation of the entire distribution system. Ignoring safety regulations or operational details during installation can lead to equipment damage, measurement errors, and even electrical accidents.
Therefore, prior to the installation of the DP Current Transformer, a comprehensive construction plan should be developed and necessary precautions taken to ensure the long-term safe and stable operation of the equipment.
1.Check product type and technical parameters before installation.
Before installation, the type, transformation ratio, accuracy rating, rated load, rated current and rated voltage of DP Current Transformer need to be carefully checked for conformity with design requirements.
At the same time, make sure that the appearance of the product is intact, without cracks, deformation, moisture or transport damage. If any abnormalities are detected, the equipment should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid installation defects.
2.Cut power, make sure there's no electricity to operate
Before installing the current transformer, the relevant power supply should be cutoff in strict accordance with the operation procedure of switching off the power supply, and a standard electrical inspection tools should be used to confirm that the line has been completely cut off.
In cases where work is required in distribution cabinets or high-voltage equipment, marking and locking (LOTO) operations shall be carried out inside accordance with local electrical safety regulations to prevent others from mistakenly supplying electricity and to ensure the safety of construction personnel.
3.Correct identification of polarity of primary and secondary edges
DP Current Transducers are usually marked with polarity markings such as P1, P2, S1, and S2.
During installation, ensure that the main P1 is facing the power supply side, P2 is facing the load side, and the subend is correctly connected to the measuring instrument or relay protection device according to the design drawings. Reverse polarity may lead to incorrect current direction, affecting power calculation, energy metering and protection device operation.
After installation, it is recommended to carefully examine the wiring and, if necessary, conduct polarity testing to ensure that the connection is correct.

4. Do not open the secondary side of the current transformer
The secondary opening of current transformer is a dangerous situation that must be avoided during installation and maintenance.
When current flows through the main circuit, if the secondary circuit is disconnected, the transformer may produce dangerous high voltage on the secondary side, which will not only damage the equipment, but also endanger the safety of the personnel on the scene. Therefore, when installing, commissioning or removing secondary equipment, the secondary circuit should always be closed; if the instrument needs to be disconnected, a special short-circuit device should be used first to reliably short-circuit the secondary side.
5. Ensure that the installation location meets the requirements.
DP Current Transducers should be installed in a dry, well-ventilated, easy-to-maintain location.
Installation environment should avoid long-term humidity, dust accumulation, oil stains, corrosive gases and violent vibration, and should be far away from high-temperature heat sources and interference equipment. When used outdoors, you should choose products with appropriate levels of protection and take measures such as rain protection, sun protection and dust protection.
A good installation environment can not only improve the stability of measurement, but also help to prolong the service life of equipment.
6.Ensure mechanical fastness.
During installation, special brackets, bolts or mounting mounts shall be used to secure transformers in accordance with the product specification.
For DC voltage transformers, the main conductor should be located in the center of the transformer to avoid eccentricity and reduce the influence of uneven magnetic field distribution on measurement accuracy. At the same time, excessive mechanical stress should be avoided on transformer by main conductor to prevent casing deformation or internal damage caused by long-term operation.
7.Specify secondary layout.
The secondary circuit shall use the line in accordance with the specification, and maintain the line neat, clearly marked, easy to maintain and troubleshoot.
When wiring, the length of the line should be as short as possible to reduce the impedance and electromagnetic interference of the line. At the same time, the long distance parallel laying of second and power cables is avoided in order to reduce inductive interference and improve measurement accuracy.
For systems with multiple current transformers installed at the same time, wire number management should be done well to avoid wiring confusion.
8. Inspection of insulation and grounding system
After installation, the insulation performance of transformers and secondary circuits shall be tested using specialized instruments to ensure that the insulation resistance complies with relevant standards.
If secondary grounding is required, single point grounding should be carried out in accordance with the design specifications to avoid forming a grounding loop, affecting measurement accuracy or causing electrical fault.
For high voltage systems, it is also necessary to check that the safe distance between transformers and other equipment meets insulation requirements.
9.Complete debugging and running tests
Before the equipment is put into operation, a comprehensive inspection shall be carried out, including wiring confirmation, polarity testing, ratio test, insulation testing test, secondary circuit continuity check, etc..
After power transmission, the operation status of the current transformer should be observed, and the measurement data should be confirmed as normal, with no heating anomaly, no abnormal noise and no alarm information. If the output current is abnormal or the protective device is not functioning properly, it should be stopped immediately for inspection and the operation should be resumed after troubleshooting.
Conclusion:
DP Current Transformer is an an important measuring equipment to ensure the safe operation of power system. Its installation quality directly influences the measurement accuracy and reliability of protection system. From power outage operation, model confirmation, polarity identification to secondary circuit protection, insulation testing and operation testing, each installation process must be conducted in strict accordance with relevant specifications.
By taking scientific and standard preventive measures, not only can installation errors and safety accidents be effectively avoided, but also the performance advantages of DP Current Transducers can be fully exploited, the useful life of equipment can be extended, and more stable and reliable current measurement guarantees can be provided for distribution systems, industrial automation and energy management.
