Since early 2026, the instrument transformer industry has witnessed major technological advances and industrial upgrades. The large-scale application of cutting-edge technologies such as quantum sensing and miniaturized measurement is reshaping the sector.

On the innovation front, quantum instrument transformers have become the industry's biggest highlight. In March 2026, State Grid Anhui Electric Power and partners launched the "Jingwei" series of full-category power quantum products. Among them, the Jingwei I series quantum current transformer, based on diamond NV center solid-state quantum sensing technology, achieves picometer-level high precision and covers voltage levels from 10kV to 1000kV. It has already been deployed in multiple substations, completely overcoming long-standing problems of conventional transformers such as magnetic saturation and ferroresonance.

At the same time, the world's first ±800 kV UHV non-invasive high-precision miniature voltage sensor was successfully put into operation at the Liuzhou converter station of the Kunliulong Project. The product size has shrunk from tens of meters (conventional transformers) to just a few centimeters, marking the official entry of China's UHV DC transmission voltage measurement into the "miniaturization era."

On the standardization and market front, the National Technical Committee on Instrument Transformers has initiated the 2026 national standard revision process, covering general technical requirements for instrument transformers, test guidelines for DC current/voltage transformers, and more. At the corporate level, Sieyuan Electric formally submitted its main board listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in February 2026, aiming for A+H dual listings. Zhejiang Tianji Instrument Transformer is planning to apply for listing on the Beijing Stock Exchange, with funds to be used for an annual production capacity expansion of 2 million new-type instrument transformers.

Industry research forecasts the global instrument transformer market will grow from approximately $8.77 billion in 2026 to $14.06 billion by 2034, representing a CAGR of about 6.09%. With continued penetration of smart grids, renewable energy integration, and industrial automation, the instrument transformer industry is accelerating its digital and intelligent transformation.
